I’m planning a wedding in December. Not a huge wedding, but a memorable one. So I visit the baker, dress maker and the bar where the after-party is going to be. I collect business cards and let the vendors know I’ll be getting back to them.

Fast forward a few weeks and I’m sending follow-up emails to set up times and get folks paid. Guess what? No replies. For days. I finally receive one email from the baker. Nice enough.

So the burning question is: What’s happened to customer service in America? I’m intentionally choosing local vendors, but I cant work with folks who don’t want a paycheck! If you’re a local business crying about people not using local services anymore, then make sure your business deserves a phone call.
